Biting the Swagbucks Bullet

I’m a bit late to the party–I just signed up for Swagbucks. I’ve been hearing about this for a while now and just saw that they’re having a promotion where new registrants will receive 5 Swagbucks if they sign up between now and Friday, July 24th, using the promotional code: NEWBIE. I guess this added incentive is what finally got me to sign up and see what Swagbucks is all about.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with Swagbucks, it’s basically a search engine that is powered by Google and Ask.com. For every search that you do, you have the chance to win Swagbucks.  Collect enough of them and you can exchange your bucks for gift cards, prizes, or a deposit into your Paypal account.

It will be tough for me to break the habit of using the Google homepage for all of my searches, so I’ve already set my default homepage to Swagbucks.com. This way I can earn bucks without even having to think about it. I’m always researching things online, so this will be an effortless way to earn gift cards and prizes, that I can then turn around and use to buy necessities for the household and for purchasing gifts.

Besides doing searches, another way to earn additional points is to have people sign up for Swagbucks using your referral link. So, signup, get a referral link, and then pass it on to your friends and family so you and they can start making money!

I’m not sure how much I’ll make per month from Swagbucks, but on other sites I’ve seen people receive gift cards for a few dollars to a few hundred. For me, any extra money I can receive when we’re living off of one income will help.
